How many bags of concrete in a yard?
One cubic yard of concrete takes about 60 bags of 60 lb premix or 45 bags of 80 lb — each 80 lb bag yields roughly 0.6 cu ft. For site-mixed concrete, plan 6–7 bags of 94 lb Portland cement per cubic yard at a standard 1:2:3 mix.

When bags stop making sense
Bagged concrete is unbeatable up to about half a yard — fence posts, small pads, repairs. Beyond one yard, ready-mix delivery is usually cheaper per yard and saves hours of mixing: a single yard means lifting and mixing 45 eighty-pound bags. Price both options before committing a weekend to a mixer.

45 bags: each 80 lb bag yields about 0.6 cubic feet, and a yard is 27 cubic feet. Add 5–10% for spillage and uneven subgrade.
How much does a yard of concrete cover?
At 4 inches thick, one yard covers about 81 square feet — a typical 10×8 ft shed pad. At 6 inches it covers 54 square feet.
How many bags of cement for 1 m³ of concrete?
A standard 1:2:3 mix takes roughly 7 bags of 50 kg cement (about 350 kg) per cubic metre, plus ~0.5 m³ sand and ~0.75 m³ gravel.
Is bagged premix as strong as ready-mix?
Yes — most premix is rated 4000 psi at 28 days if you keep the water low. The common mistake is adding too much water, which cuts strength sharply.
